Turbocharger Rotor Dynamic Balancing Service
- Description
The single, most important part of a turbo rebuild is a well balanced rotor. An unbalanced turbocharger will result in noise, increased wear and an eventual premature failure.
Turbo Rebuild are able to balance your turbo rotor to a level suitable for long-term reliability and low noise (assuming all components are undamaged). This service is aimed at slow/medium units which do not experience shaft flex. We advise all turbochargers equipped with VNT, variable geometry or similar are high-speed VSR balanced once assembled.
Our balancing machine will fit most turbo frame sizes from T2 Garrett to HX60 Holset.
Our balancing service consists of:
- Component inspection for balance suitability
- Cleaning of all components
- Assembly of the turbo rotor, including critical torque setting
- Precision 2-plane dynamic balance including relevent machining
- Certificate of balance
PARTS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE BALANCING
To ensure a smooth service, please ensure you read the following requirements. We only offer a rotor balance service and NOT CHRA balancing. Price includes no labour costs for dismantling turbo which should be completed by yourself.
Parts we require:
- Turbo shaft impeller nut
- Thrust collar (this part can vary in piece quantity from 1 piece to 4 pieces)
- Compressor wheel
- Turbine shaft
(the turbocharger thrust collar is the stainless steel part that slides on the shaft and contains the front piston ring (dynamic turbos))
IMPORTANT:
It is your responsibility to disassemble the turbo and send only the parts required. DO NOT FIT NEW PISTON RINGS AS THESE WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED IN THE BALANCING PHASE AND WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE.
This balancing service is currently only suitable for journal type turbochargers. We CANNOT provide this service for Ball Bearing turbochargers.
This balancing service does not correct imbalance in shaft flex situations.
Once your purchase of this service is complete, box your turbo rotor up and send to us at:
